Welcome to FPT Sessions: Structured Training for Board Sport Athletes

At FPT Sessions, we believe performance in the water, on snow, or on concrete starts with how you train.

FPT Sessions is a structured training system for surfers, skaters, snowboarders and skiers, combining gym-based strength and conditioning with progressive programming and breath development.

Led by Olly Farley, FPT Sessions brings high-performance training into a group environment — helping you build strength, improve control, and perform with confidence under pressure.

Our Approach

At FPT Sessions, we understand what it takes to improve performance, push harder, and stay injury free in board sports. Our training combines the key physical demands of surfing, skating, snowboarding and skiing into a structured system that builds strength, control and endurance.

Whether you’re just starting out or looking to perform at a higher level, FPT Sessions is designed to support your progression and help you perform with confidence in your sport.

The FPT 6-Month System

A structured progression designed to build strength, conditioning, breath control, and performance under pressure — all with a clear goal in mind. Your goal.

You’ll train toward something from day one, setting a performance goal, physical target, and personal focus. Along the way, you’ll be guided with weekly focus tasks, simple “homework” to accelerate progress, and ongoing check-ins to keep you on track.

Classes:

Gym Training

  • Monday and Wednesdays (May 4th – Nov 6th 2026)
  • 6:00pm classes
  • Open to all surfers, skaters, skiers and snowboarders

TIER 1 — BASE
  • $120/Month
  • 1x group gym session per week
  • Access to FPT system
  • Optional Add-Ons:
    Pool breathwork sessions &/or Personal Programs +$50 each
TIER 2 — PERFORMANCE
  • $240/Month
  • 2x group gym sessions per week
  • Weekly challenge drops
  • Structured progression through the FPT system
  • Optional Add-On:
    Pool breathwork sessions +$50/week
TIER 3 — ELITE
  • $280/Month
  • 2x group gym sessions per week
  • Weekly challenge drops
  • Personalised training programs
  • All Pool breathwork INCLUDED

Breath Development

  • Thursdays
  • Block 1 July 2 – 23
  • Block 2 September 3 -24
  • AUT Millennium – North Shore
  • 4 week block: $200
🔹 MONTH 1 — FOUNDATION

Theme: Build the base

Focus:

  • Movement quality
  • Aerobic conditioning
  • Basic strength patterns

Breath:

  • Nasal breathing
  • CO₂ tolerance intro

Testing:

  • Max breath hold (baseline)
  • Push-ups / Pull-ups
  • Basic conditioning test

Goal Integration:

  • Set individual goals
  • Establish starting metrics
🔹 MONTH 2 — CAPACITY

Theme: Build the engine

Focus:

  • Increase volume
  • Strength endurance
  • Aerobic → anaerobic shift

Breath:

  • Breath holds post-exercise
  • Recovery breathing

Testing:

  • Repeat conditioning test
  • Breath hold progression

Goal Integration:

  • Add 1–2 weekly “goal tasks”
    (e.g. extra paddle, mobility work)
🔹 MONTH 3 — CONTROL UNDER STRESS

Theme: Stay composed when it gets hard

Focus:

  • Harder intervals
  • Unilateral strength
  • Stability + control
  • 4 x Breath Development sessions

Breath:

  • Breathhold pool work
  • Fitness components and cogitative tasks in pool
  • Max breath holds, weight work etc

Testing:

  • Breath hold under fatigue
  • Strength progression check

Goal Integration:

  • Adjust goals if needed
  • Reinforce weak areas
🔹 MONTH 4 — POWER & PERFORMANCE

Theme: Turn fitness into output

Focus:

  • Explosive strength
  • Speed + power
  • Contrast training

Breath:

  • Fast recovery between efforts
  • Control under intensity

Testing:

  • Power test (e.g. jump / explosive push)
  • Conditioning repeat

Goal Integration:

  • More sport-specific tasks
    (surf, paddling, etc.)
🔹 MONTH 5 — PERFORMANCE UNDER PRESSURE

Theme: Execute when it matters

Focus:

  • High intensity
  • Sport-specific conditioning
  • Fatigue resistance
  • Pool training

Breath:

  • Stress exposure
  • Cognitive tasks under fatigue
  • Breath development 2.0

Testing:

  • Combined tests:
    • Breath + movement
    • Conditioning under fatigue

Goal Integration:

  • Direct link to their outcome goal
🔹 MONTH 6 — PEAK & PROVE

Theme: Show the result

Focus:

  • Maintain intensity, reduce volume
  • Performance output

Breath:

  • Max holds
  • Competition-style challenges

Testing (BIG ONE):

  • Max breath hold
  • Strength re-test
  • Conditioning re-test

Goal Integration:

  • Compare start vs finish
  • Highlight wins
